Antique tea caddy dating to the middle part of the 19th century. It features scenes from Classical Chinese themes, Dragons, temples along with scenes from daily life. These tea caddies were made for the export market. The gold painting is rubbed but generally kept to the lid. Inside features two pewter containers with lids featuring ivory knobs. The decoration on the pewter containers is all hand decorated with punch or pierced work. The hinges even feature pierced sunbursts! Original escutcheon and lock only missing key. A really nice example. The only thing i should mention is a very old repair to the rear, near the hinge. It doesn`t detract but only fair to mention, well it is over 150 years old!
Size is 10 inches (25cm) long, 6 inches (15 cm) tall and 7.5 inches (19 cm) wide
