Splendid example of Charles Paillet's work. Standing 13 cm high with screw thread and collar. Condition is fine, with minimal losses to chrome.
Charles Paillet was born at Moulin- Englebert,(Nievre) France on March 31st 1871. He studied under Georges Gardet and exhibited at the Ecole Des Artistes Francais from 1897, winning third class in 1902, second class in 1904, and the supreme first class medal in 1922. Most of his works were cast by the foundry Thiebault Freres both in lost wax and by the sand-cast method. Charles Paillet, Georges Gardet, Rene Paris, as well as others make up the second generation of Animalier sculptors and exhibited their works between the great period of animal bronzes and the art deco period that was to replace the naturalistic Animalier style. He died in 1937.’
